11 Utah Christmas Events You May Want To Check Out This Year
The holiday season is here again, and there is no doubt that people will be enjoying the outdoors after spending much of the 2020 holiday season indoors. And the holiday season 2021 offers a host of new activities for you and your family.
We’ve rounded up 11 iconic Christmas events for you and your family to enjoy this holiday season. Each of these annual events takes place in Salt Lake and Utah counties. So if you miss this year, be sure to check them out in 2022.
Festival of Trees – Mountain America Expo Center
Each year, the Mountain America Expo Center hosts the Festival of Trees, which is a major vacation convention where the savvy can meet decorators and vendors from the community. It is also a fundraising event for the Primary Children’s Hospital.
Christkindlmarkt – This Is The Place Heritage Park – Salt Lake Foothill District
For the holidays, This Is The Place heritage park turns into a Christmas wonderland with goodies and arts and crafts events. The holiday market is only open for a weekend in December and it is that weekend, from December 1 to 4.
Walk under the windows – Grand America Hotel
The Grand America runs walking tours for the holiday season that feature new storefronts for the holiday season. You taste the collection of hot chocolate and cookies on the tour while embracing the real magic of the holiday season.
Breakfast with Santa Claus – Gardner Village
Quite simple. You can drive to Gardner Village to have breakfast with Santa himself. Just make sure you do it before December 24th as it gets quite busy that day.
Zoolights – The Hogle Utah Zoo
Over 200 animal and holiday themed illuminated displays light up the holiday season. Guests can eat s’mores and drink hot chocolate as they explore the zoo, including a lighted walkway that spans 135 feet.
The Nutcracker by Ballet West
William Christensen’s annual performance of “The Nutcracker” returns for 2021. Performances will take place throughout December.
Ice skating – Center Gallivan
Spending time on the ice rink could bring that magical vibe to the holiday season. The Galliavan Center offers ice skating opportunities, bringing you closer to the winter season.
“Home Alone in Concert” – Utah Symphony
On December 21 and 22, the Utah Symphony will perform the score for “Home Alone” by John Williams.
Luminaria – Thanksgiving Point
Over 6,000 lights illuminate a mile-long walk through Ashton Gardens to Thanksgiving Point. Reservations are possible every 30 minutes from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. You can buy tickets there but also in advance to make sure your place is reserved.
Christmas in Temple Square
Yes, Temple Square in Salt Lake City is open for the Christmas season. You and your family can go there to check the lights.
‘Star of Wonder’ – West Valley Performing Arts Center
âStar of Wonderâ opens this week at the West Valley Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available at www.starofwonder.com and the show runs from December 4 to 11.
