A local business invites the public to skate for a good cause

Under the Son Skating is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday to help the Crossroads Mission

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) — Nonprofits are always looking for ways to generate interest and help their cause. Then there are business owners who believe in taking a proactive stance when helping their community.

Under the Son Skating is one such venture, Mike Escamilla applauds the mission for its efforts to help displaced people and those struggling with addiction.

So, Escamilla wanted to do her part and help them where the need is greatest. As the population of our country increases, so does the number of people living on the streets.

Currently, the Crossroads Mission is raising funds to build a larger men’s shelter. So, next Saturday, March 26, Under the Son (Son is right, they are faith-based) will take over FTS Automotive’s parking lot and deploy its mobile ice rink.

Under the Son’s “Choose to Skate and not Hate” event will begin at 11 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. Admission is $5 and skate rentals are $5. Participants are more than welcome to bring their own skates.

Members of the professional roller derby team, the Border City Rollers, and other local celebrities will also make appearances at the event.
