For the first time, Odisha’s team will participate in the national ice skating camp

Bhubaneswar: Without an ice rink and proper infrastructure, Odisha’s team managed to make their debut at the national ice skating camp for the next national ice skating championship, which will be held in Haryana.

The national camp will be held at ISKATE, Gurugram from November 22-26, said Odisha Ice Skating Association (OISA) secretary Partha Sarathi Jena.

Popular Olympic sport marked its presence in India in 2002. The Indian Ice Skating Association (ISAI) introduced it to the country. However, the sport was recently introduced to Odisha by famous trainer and former state champion and national player Partha Sarathi Jena.

Although there is no ice rink in the state, the athletes trained them well so that they did not encounter any difficulties on the rink, Jena said.

The pre-selected 12-member team includes Arman Subudhi, Ashlesha Panda, Sai Sriyansu Rout, Aditya Mishra, Biren Das, RN Aryan, Swayansu S Kanungo, Kaustav Patnaik, Krupa Doshi and Kushi Agarwal. The players were trained by Odisha Skating Academy.

Aspiring skaters are encouraged to contact the Secretary of State at 9090913331 to register their name.
