Headwaters Park Ice Rink opens on Saturday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) – It’s that time of year again! The Headwaters Park rink will open to skaters on Saturday afternoon.

The 19th rink season will begin on November 20 at noon and will last until February 27.

“Every year we have thousands of skaters and a lot of spectators during our three month season. Last year’s skaters totaled just over 22,000, which was significantly down from the previous year, due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, there has been a cumulative total of over 400,000 since the rink opened in November 2003, ”said Geoff Paddock, Executive Director of the Headwaters Park Alliance.

Paddock says the rink recommends social distancing, will limit crowds in the concession stand and warm-up room, and encourage face coverings.

The hours for this year are from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, from noon to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The rink will be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas days. They note that the hours are also subject to change depending on the staff available.

Tickets for ages 13 and under are $ 4, adult tickets $ 6, and skate rentals are $ 3.

Thanks to a donation from Old National Bank, admission fees will be waived for children 13 and under for the following dates: November 30, December 14, January 4, January 18, February 1, and February 15. Skate rental fees still apply.
