It’s the season for cool weather, bright lights and ice skating. Chances are, you can get all three at the same time right now in Kansas City.

While you might not move around like Apollo Anton-Ohno or as graceful as Johnny Weir, it’s fun to go skating with friends or family. Here are some ice rinks open in the region for the winter.

CROWN CENTER ICE TERRACE

Located in the upper corner near SeaLife and Legoland, you’ll find the Crown Center Ice Terrace, Kansas City’s public ice rink. The 49th season is underway and will run until March 13.

It is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. It costs $ 8 for adults and kids 4 and up, while it’s free for kids 4 and under. Ice skate rental is $ 4 and season passes cost $ 90.

ICE IN THE PLACE OF THE PARK

Leawood’s only outdoor rink is open daily until February 27, weather permitting. It is full of shops, restaurants and seasonal festivities, such as Ice Skating with Santa and Valentine’s Day Ice Skating.

It’s holiday hours now, which means it’s open Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. until January 4. After the holidays, it is open Monday to Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
