MCM Rink n’ Roll Opens First Adult Late Night Roller Skating Event in West Texas

ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) — The first-ever “Late Skate” on the new Music City Mall ice rink took place Sunday night.

For only $8, people came to enjoy an evening of skating without children.

“It’s $8 for any type of skate you want, you have two hours from 6:30-8:30 to hang out with your friends and enjoy,” said Candace Atwater, manager, MCM Rink n’ Roll.

Today’s theme was 70s and attendees had the opportunity to dress up and compete for a $250 gift card.

According to the Rink n’ Roll manager, this is just the beginning of many events to come.

“We shoot for every Sunday evening. We hope to have a different theme night every week,” Atwater said.

For new residents like Kelsey Waggaman, events like these help her feel part of the community.

“It’s so fun to see everyone expressing themselves, being active, listening to music and being together. It’s just a really positive environment,” Waggaman said.

According to Atwater, the goal is for each late skating event to be themed. All you have to do is show up ready to have a good time.

“There are no slots, you don’t have to book anything, just come as you are or like the 80s or 70s or whatever you want and enjoy the night,” Atwater said.

If you’re wondering about the chance to win a $250 gift card for a shopping spree at Music City Mall, Atwater says, “It won’t be the last chance.”

The next night skate party will take place next Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
