Old Norwich Ice Rink for Sale
An ice rink in Norwich, housed in an unusual dome-shaped structure, closed for a decade, is for sale.
The former Planet Ice rink, which has closed near the Asda supermarket in Drayton High Road, is for sale, on lease, for a price on request.
The ice rink, on the former Norwich Sports Village site, opened in December 2009 but closed three years later.
The ice rink features a large, open-concept hall measuring approximately 24,000 square feet with an additional 1,150 square feet under a flat roof.
There is no more ice, but the area formerly used by skaters is made up of sand.

Agents Everett, Masson & Furby say the vacant property “could also be used for other purposes unrelated to the recreation industry, subject to any consent required, such as a storage or distribution center or perhaps a studio. television or cinema “.
They state: âThe buildings are well known in the area due to their unique domed design with this particular property comprising three adjacent domes to create a single unit.
“While from the outside the property may appear irregular and curved in shape, on the inside it is actually a regular but large rectangular space under a 10m high domed ceiling.”
The rink closed after the Planet Ice company originally closed it for maintenance issues. It then decided not to reopen after inquiries revealed there were “significant structural issues”.
