Places to ice skate in Manchester this Christmas 2021
There is nothing quite like having a skate on the ice to get you in the party spirit and there are plenty of places you can whirl around Manchester this Christmas.
Whether you are looking for an ice rink in Manchester city center or further afield, there are a number of places where you can put your balancing skills to the test.
If you have little ones that can be a bit wobbly on the ice, that’s okay – most places have penguins or other skating aids to keep them stable as they move.

Tinsel Town at the Trafford Center
The Trafford Center promises a âsensational outdoor experienceâ this Christmas with its Tinsel Town offering and a huge 600 square meter indoor ice rink is one of them.

Skate Manchester, Christmas Markets
The Cathedral Gardens are once again home to the main family area of ââthe Christmas markets and home to a huge ice rink.

Escape to Freight Island, Manchester
A skating rink in the sky has opened at the new party village of Escape to Freight Island.
String lights and frosted trees gave Mayfield Depot a full festive makeover ahead of the Christmas season.
The outdoor venue has been transformed into ‘Winter Island’ – the UK’s largest heated outdoor market, now with its own specially designed indoor ice rink.

Unreal Christmas at Trafford Palazzo
Across the bridge from the Trafford Center, an Unreal Xmas event happens at Trafford Palazzo, formerly Barton Square.
Open from December 3, it will offer a Christmas village, markets and “a breathtaking skating experience through a captivating forest and a snowy world”.
Set over two floors, this is the first time that a festive experience of this scale has been organized at TraffordCity.
Two custom-built bars will allow visitors to soak up the ‘magical’ atmosphere and watch family and friends skate, while a roller bar will be available for festive refreshments by the ice.

Christmas by the sea, Blackpool
