UK’s biggest ice slide heads to Cambridge as North Pole ice rink and bar return


Get ready for some frosty fun this winter with the return of the North Pole Ice Rink – and a giant new slide.

Transforming the city into a winter wonderland, the ice rink will open its doors on Parker’s Piece between Friday November 19 and Monday January 3.

Covid-19 forced the cancellation of last year’s event, with organizers saying, “We appreciate your custom and support and look forward to returning to Parker’s Piece in 2021.”

Along with the other attractions and stands, this year’s event will also be home to a true three-lane slide – the longest in the UK.

After a skating session, visitors can refuel at the Ice Bar, which serves bratwurst sausage, hot chocolate with marshmallows, mulled wine or traditional cider and more, while the Ferris wheel offers a sweeping view. precedent on the celebrations.

Rob Derry, director of ice at the Arena, who coordinates the event, said: “We have done everything to make the North Pole a true celebration of winter 2021 in Cambridge to remember.

“After last year’s lockdown over the Christmas season canceling our plans, we’re bringing the fun back in more ways than ever before.

“From the introduction of our enviable Ferris wheel to the UK’s longest three-lane ice slide providing an exhilarating experience for visitors, there is something for everyone at this year’s magical North Pole Ice Rink. ”

Tickets to The North Pole are available now, with prices starting at £ 13 for adults and £ 11 for children, with discounted family and seasonal tickets also available.

The North Pole is open from 12 p.m. to 8.45 p.m. on weekdays (with the last skate from 8 p.m.) and from 11 a.m. to 8.45 p.m. (with the last skate from 8 p.m.). Closed on Christmas day.
